Daisy and the Cloudy Mountains

This evening I watched Daisy play in the back of the house - I think she was chasing rabbits. I loved her stance with the cloudy mountains in the background.

The Morning Sun

This morning I woke up to this beautiful site. I loved the way the sun was coming up on the right while on the left the clouds were hovering over the mountain. It was just an absolute wonderful morning sun.

Chimney Rock

This afternoon we took a drive to Abiquiu and stopped in at Ghost Ranch. We hiked up to Chimney Rock - this is the view we had about half way up the trail.

What's That White Stuff?

Well I guess winter isn't over - last night we got snow and this is what we woke up to. We had about six inches of snow at home. That beautiful weather we had for a couple of weeks sure fooled us.

The Storm Clouds Rolled In

All day today the sky was overcast and by afternoon the storm clouds had rolled in. The Sangre de Cristos were covered with snow clouds - I thought winter was over.

A View of the Cerrillos Hills

A Twisted Trunk

I took a walk today in the Santa Fe National Forest off of the Old Las Vegas Highway. During my walk I encountered this juniper with a very interesting trunk. I couldn't help but take a picture.

Big Bird

Today I visited Tropic of Capricorn. I was walking around the building when I entered a room and this very large parrot started squawking at me. I just love how colorful it is.

Osteospermum

We decided we wanted to start some plantings for the garden today so we took a trip to the nursery. While looking around I took lots of pictures of all the colorful flowers. Here is a picture of an 'orange symphony' and a 'lemon symphony'.

The Lilacs are Blooming

Our garden is beginning to come back to life. Today I took some time and looked at the lilacs. They have buds all over them - I can't wait until they are fully bloomed.

Beautiful Clouds

Today I took a walk and noticed the beautiful clouds. The New Mexico sky is always wonderful to view. I ended up watching the sky for an hour.

The Ballhead in Winter

These are the last remnants of winter in the garden - I took a picture last summer of these in bloom and I had a hard time identifying them. I came up with Ballhead Waterleaf or Hydrophyllum capitatum but I am not sure if this is right. Anyway, the garden is turning greener each day and these dried flowers will soon disappear.

Beleek Sugar Dish

Kimo Theatre

Today we rode the Railrunner to Albuquerque. We walked downtown and stopped in a few shops. We had lunch at a pizza place and then just walked. I stopped to take a picture of the Kimo Theatre - I love all the detail on the building.

A Sign of Spring

Our yard is starting to show signs of spring - bushes are budding, bulbs are sprouting leaves and the Forsythia are a bright yellow. Its good to know that spring is on its way.

The New Mexico Landscape

The Old Courthouse in Sherwood

We were in Sherwood today and we visited the old courthouse. We didn't go inside - not sure if it is even open or used anymore. I loved the tower on top of the building and I thought it would be great to remodel the building and live in it.

The Presidio

On our way to San Angelo we stopped in Menard to visit Presidio San Saba. The place is in terrible ruin, walls are cracked and pieces are falling off - I wish they would restore the place or at least stop the deterioration.

Zantedeschia

During my visit to the Zilker Botanical Gardens today I saw this beautiful Calla Lily. I like how this picture turned out with the background very dark - it made the flower really stand out.

Texas Bluebonnets

Today as we drove through central Texas we encountered lots of bluebonnets. They were all along the highways. We made a stop to take a few pictures - I am so happy we were able to see them during this trip.

Staying On Track

Today I visited Rusk State Park (now known as Texas State Railroad Park). I liked the way these tracks just disappeared into the woods. I would have liked to have taken a ride on the train but I ran out of time.

An Angel Keeping Watch

This picture was taken in a cemetery in Waco, Tx. There are lots of objects that are considered cemetery symbols - each has a meaning. I think it is very interesting to look for these symbols.

The Arroyo
