Art in Santa Fe

A walk down Canyon Road is always nice. There is art everywhere. When I came across the Jane Sauer Gallery. The stucco, ristra, plants, window and statue just made the perfect shot.

Aguilegia

Walking downtown today I spotted a garden - mostly the flowers were yellow and purple. I especially love these yellow columbines.

Feathery Dandelion

I love dandelions - I know they are considered a weed but I love both the yellow flower and the seed flower. I love how delicate this flower looks.

Beautiful Yarrow

My garden continues to bloom. Today I enjoyed this beautiful yellow Yarrow. We haven't had this much blooming in our garden in years.

The Pond

I took a walk today out at the Santa Fe Municipal Recreation Complex. There is a pond near the soccer fields. I just love the way the sky reflected in the water.

Clouds in the New Mexico Sky

I took this picture late this afternoon as the clouds were building up in the sky. I love the New Mexico sky and I especially love it when it is full of clouds - just beautiful.

This morning we drove out to the Santa Fe National Cemetery. They were having a Memorial Day celebration. I always love the National Cemetery with the headstones set with such precision and I especially love it with all the flags.

Oriental Poppy Bloom

Well I was right - it didn't take long for the poppies to start blooming. When they start to open it always reminds me of the Georgia O'Keeffe painting.

Poppy Bud

My Oriental Poppies are looking good this year. I have about 11 of these buds on my plant. I can't wait until they start opening. I think it should be really soon.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

While working in the yard to clear some weeds I came across a bunch of these spiders. I looked them up on the internet and I am not sure what type it is - it may be a Hobo, Grass or Wolf spider. If anyone out there knows for sure please let me know.

Peony Bud

I have had this peony plant for about 7 years - I had one bloom in each of the first two years. Then for four years I didn't even get a bud. This year I got just this one.

Dark Clouds Over the Sangre de Cristos

This evening as the sun was going down I noticed that the sky was darkening over the Sangre de Cristos. I actually thought that is was beautiful. I love the sky and the light just over the mountains.

Yucca glauca

Today I took a walk around the property. It was a great day, nice temperatures and a gentle breeze and plenty of sunshine. I really enjoyed the walk and was happy to see that the yuccas were in full bloom.

A Tree Full of Cherries

Our garden continues to prosper. We have two cherry trees and they are both full of cherries - I just hope the birds don't decide to have a feast.

Graffiti Tracks

As the train left Chicago I watched as the city faded away. Then we came to these tracks and the overpass with all the graffiti - I just liked the scene.

Union Station

Before leaving Chicago we had a little time to explore Union Station. I love this building - both the inside and outside are equally beautiful. I think these columns are so majestic.

Frank Lloyd Wright

Today we took a walk in Oak Park, IL. This is where Frank Lloyd Wright had his home and studio. The above house is the Moore-Dugal Residence.

The Palace of Fine Arts

Today we visited the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The building is is housed in The Palace of Fine Arts that was built in 1893 for the World's Columbian Exposition. The building is quite large and very beautiful.

Mosaics at the Cultural Center

We stopped at the Chicago Cultural Center today just to walk around and see the building. We were told that it was incredible. It use to be the public library and there is mosaic tile work everywhere. I especially liked this clock.

Chicago Night View

Tonight as we were walking back to the hotel we crossed the Chicago River. I stopped in the middle of the bridge and captured this night view of some of the buildings on the river. The one on the left with the clock on the top is the Wrigley Building.

The Moray Eel

I visited the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago today. I was able to ge this great picture of a moray eel. To be honest he kind of creeps me out.

Ferris Wheel on Navy Pier

We spent some time on Navy Pier today. This picture is the Ferris Wheel on Navy Pier. It moves continuously - it doesn't even stop for people to get on and off - you do that as it keeps moving. Don't worry, it moves really slow.

The Bean

Today we are in Chicago and we visited Millennium Park. This picture is of Cloud Gate (aka The Bean). I love how it reflects everything around it (sky, buildings and people).

Des Moines River

Today we passed over the Des Moines River as we traveled with Amtrak to Chicago. The sky was overcast and it gave the river a very hazy and misty appearance.

The Poppies are Popping

Our garden has really come to life - this morning I was looking at all the flowers and was amazed to see how many wonderful california poppies are in bloom.

Today the Iris Blooms

This Iris is the one from yesterday's photo. About six flowers opened up today and the garden is looking fantastic. I only wish I knew the exact names of all the Irises in the garden.

Irises Ready To Bloom

The garden is really coming alive. Today I noticed that quite a few of my irises are getting ready to bloom. I can't wait until they open all the way.

Pine Cone

I was walking around the property today looking for something to photograph. I came across this pine cone. I love the way it is open at the tip and the way is way hanging in the tree.

Daisy Keeps on Growing

Daisy and I went for a walk today and I noticed that she has grown quite a bit. She no longer looks like a puppy. She is now seven months old and weighs about 30 pounds. Daisy is a blue heeler and has turned out to be a great dog.

Gerber Daisy

Today I came across a beautiful flower arrangement. There were lots of different flowers in the arrangement but this gerber daisy really stood out.

I hiked the Atalaya Mountain Trail today - it was a beautiful day with beautiful views.
