Art in Santa Fe

A walk down Canyon Road is always nice. There is art everywhere. When I came across the Jane Sauer Gallery. The stucco, ristra, plants, window and statue just made the perfect shot.

Walking downtown today I spotted a garden - mostly the flowers were yellow and purple. I especially love these yellow columbines.

Feathery Dandelion

I love dandelions - I know they are considered a weed but I love both the yellow flower and the seed flower. I love how delicate this flower looks.

The Pond

I took a walk today out at the Santa Fe Municipal Recreation Complex. There is a pond near the soccer fields. I just love the way the sky reflected in the water.

Clouds in the New Mexico Sky

I took this picture late this afternoon as the clouds were building up in the sky. I love the New Mexico sky and I especially love it when it is full of clouds - just beautiful.

Thanks!

This morning we drove out to the Santa Fe National Cemetery. They were having a Memorial Day celebration. I always love the National Cemetery with the headstones set with such precision and I especially love it with all the flags.

Oriental Poppy Bloom

Well I was right - it didn't take long for the poppies to start blooming. When they start to open it always reminds me of the Georgia O'Keeffe painting.

Poppy Bud

My Oriental Poppies are looking good this year. I have about 11 of these buds on my plant. I can't wait until they start opening. I think it should be really soon.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

While working in the yard to clear some weeds I came across a bunch of these spiders. I looked them up on the internet and I am not sure what type it is - it may be a Hobo, Grass or Wolf spider. If anyone out there knows for sure please let me know.

Peony Bud

I have had this peony plant for about 7 years - I had one bloom in each of the first two years. Then for four years I didn't even get a bud. This year I got just this one.

Dark Clouds Over the Sangre de Cristos

This evening as the sun was going down I noticed that the sky was darkening over the Sangre de Cristos. I actually thought that is was beautiful. I love the sky and the light just over the mountains.

Yucca glauca

Today I took a walk around the property. It was a great day, nice temperatures and a gentle breeze and plenty of sunshine. I really enjoyed the walk and was happy to see that the yuccas were in full bloom.

Today we took a walk in Oak Park, IL. This is where Frank Lloyd Wright had his home and studio. The above house is the Moore-Dugal Residence.

The Palace of Fine Arts

Today we visited the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The building is is housed in The Palace of Fine Arts that was built in 1893 for the World's Columbian Exposition. The building is quite large and very beautiful.

Mosaics at the Cultural Center

We stopped at the Chicago Cultural Center today just to walk around and see the building. We were told that it was incredible. It use to be the public library and there is mosaic tile work everywhere. I especially liked this clock.

Chicago Night View

Tonight as we were walking back to the hotel we crossed the Chicago River. I stopped in the middle of the bridge and captured this night view of some of the buildings on the river. The one on the left with the clock on the top is the Wrigley Building.

The Moray Eel

Ferris Wheel on Navy Pier

We spent some time on Navy Pier today. This picture is the Ferris Wheel on Navy Pier. It moves continuously - it doesn't even stop for people to get on and off - you do that as it keeps moving. Don't worry, it moves really slow.

Daisy Keeps on Growing

Daisy and I went for a walk today and I noticed that she has grown quite a bit. She no longer looks like a puppy. She is now seven months old and weighs about 30 pounds. Daisy is a blue heeler and has turned out to be a great dog.
