Railyard Labyrinth

I spent this morning walking around the railyard. I had not been to the kid's playground area since they completed it so I made my way to that area. One of the first things I noticed was this great labyrinth - I like how it blends in with all the other landscape and structures.

Flared Trumpet Vine

I spent the afternoon today walking around downtown. I came across this beautiful trumpet vine
growing on the side of a building. I loved the way the flowers were all flared out.

Cloud Formation Over the Sangre de Cristos

As I took my afternoon walk on the property today I noticed how these clouds were forming over the Sangre de Cristos. I thought it was a wonderful site.

A Blooming Desert Willow

Our garden still has a few things blooming, one being this beautiful desert willow. I love the vibrancy of the color of the bloom.

Butterfly on the Butterfly Bush

This morning while having my coffee on the porch I watched this butterfly as it moved from flower to flower on the butterfly bush - what a great little pollinator.

The Orb Weaver Returns

Last year we had an orb weaver that lived near one of the beams on our portal. Today I was sitting on a bench in the garden and noticed that an orb weaver is back - this time he choose to make his home on our covered bench.

Hummingbird Silhouette

Recently I put up a hummingbird feeder. I now have about five hummingbirds that frequent the garden. I liked this silhouetted picture especially the translucent wings.

Ballhead Waterleaf in Bloom

Back in March I took a picture of a plant in the garden that was still dead from the winter. It has not bloomed and I still think it is the plant I decided it was back in March - the Ballhead Waterleaf or Hydrophullum capitatum.

Today we spent time with our friends for A Day of Rockhounding. We visited the Harding Minelepidolite - I love the purple color.

Yucca Pods

We had a great year for yucca blooms this spring but now at the end of summer all that is left are the pods. In a lot of ways I think the pods are just as beautiful as the flowers.

A Stack of Rocks

On a hike today I noticed this rock cairn from down the trail. I liked the way it was stacked and the yellow flowers growing at its base. Such a mundane thing but very beautiful.

Long-Flowered Gilly

I took a walk along a trail near my house today and came across the very beautifula and delicate looking flower. It took me a while before I was able to determine what kind of flower it was. After lots of searching on the internet I found out that it was a Long-Flowered Gilly or Ipomopsis longiflora and is a member of the Phlox family.

Beautiful Aster

I was walking around the property today and saw this beautiful aster. It looked so perfect - I took pictures from all angles but I liked the one from above the best.

Santa Fe Canyon Preserve

I went for a walk today at the Santa Fe Canyon Preserve on Upper Canyon Road. It was a beautiful day with blue skies. This is a view from a bench where I sat to relax for a little while.

A Golden End

I spent most of the day playing catch-up from my trip to Arizona. While sitting on the porch I noticed the color of the sky changing and I got this great picture of a golden end to a busy day.

Feathers of a Bird

I was walking on a trail in Albuquerque in the Bosque near the Rio Grande River. I came across these bird feathers and loved the way the light was hitting them.

Remains on Route 66

I was driving along old Route 66 in Arizona around Bellemont, AZ and I came across this dilapidated barn. What I wouldn't give to see this area in its heyday.

Tree of Stone

I made a trip to Petrified Forest National Park today. I enjoyed the drive through the park and made quite a few stops and took quite a few pictures. This tree is at the Long Logs section of the park.

Hogan on the Continental Divide

I am traveling west along I40 for a quick trip to Arizona. I stopped at a roadside marker for the Continental Divide. Just down the hill from the marker I spotted this dilapidated hogan.

Brockway Hood Ornament

I was walking along the road on the property today and I passed this old Brockway truck sitting next to my neighbor's house. I really like this hood ornament and its weathered appearance.

Railyard Bloom

This afternoon I took a walk around the Railyard. There wasn't much happening and I was having trouble finding things to photograph. Eventually I noticed this flower and luckily the picture came out pretty good.

A Very Life-Like Statue

Today I took a walk after work at my favorite place - Canyon Road. I parked about midway down and walked to the end the returned and went to the beginning. When I got to Paseo de Peralta I walked around The Edge and came across this amazing sculpture by Jessie Holmes.

Purple and Gold Sunset

This evening while watering the garden I noticed the sky changing colors pretty fast, so I dropped the hose and picked up the camera and got this wonderful sunset photo.

A Beautiful Flower in the Healing Garden

Today at work I had my lunch out in the Healing Garden. I noticed this beautiful little flower in the corner and just had to take a picture.

A Santa Fe Gate in Shadow

While walking around in downtown today I came across this beautiful gate. I love the way it is dappled in light.

Purple Cosmos

This cosmos just recently bloomed in the yard. It is the only flower right now - I hope it isn't too lonely.

Soothing Waterfall

Today I took a walk along West Alameda this morning. I decided to sit on a bench near the river and watch this beautiful waterfall - it was a very relaxing morning.

Rain Clouds

This evening I noticed these rain clouds in the distance and I really liked the way the rain was falling - it reminded me of a veil.

Beautiful Mushrooms

Today I went on a hike in Glorieta with my friend Diane. We hiked the trail to Glorieta Ghost Town. At the beginning of the trail we came across these beautiful mushrooms.

It Was a Glorious Morning

This morning I was sitting on the porch drinking my coffee and enjoying the cool temperatures when I noticed that our Morning Glory was in full bloom. I liked the way the sun was hitting these two flowers so I quickly snapped a picture before the light changed.

This is a Lladro piece that was bought in Spain many years ago. I really like the simplicity of the statue and the beauty in the faces.
