One Last Pumpkin

I had one pumpkin left from last night's pumpkin carving dinner. So today I decided to carve it and add it to the other two I had. I like this witch although I think she is too cute and not scary enough. Anyway, Happy Halloween!!!!!

Frankenstein's Monster in Pumpkin

Tonight some friends came over and we had dinner and carved pumpkins. This was my contribution to the night. I think he looks pretty scary.

I Carved A Pumpkin

Tonight I decided to try and carve a pumpkin. I don't remember the last time I did this. So I looked a few things up on the internet, picked a pattern and here is the results.

Fall Flower Arrangement

While shopping today I came across these bouquets of fall flowers. I decided the house could use some fall color so I brought home a few bunches and made this arrangement. I think it brings a little fall into the house.

Leaf Footed Plant Bug

Today the dog was playing around with this bug. I made the dog leave the bug alone and I realized it had a beautiful pattern on its back. So I got the camera and took a few pictures. After quite a bit of reasearch I found out it was a Leaf Footed Plant Bug.

Snow Covered California Poppies

I think this is the end of the garden for the winter. Another light snow fall covered the remaining flowers that were blooming in the garden. I think we may be in for a wet winter.

The Clouds at Sunset

While taking a walk this evening I was walking with my back to the sunset. This is the view I had of the clouds opposite the setting sun.

Another Beautiful New Mexico Sunset

This evening while sitting on the porch enjoying the cool, crisp weather I got to watch this beautiful sunset - a perfect way to end the day.

Snow on the Mountain

Yesterday I noticed that the mountain had quite a bit of snow. So this morning I decided to take a drive up to the ski basin and see how much. There wasn't a huge amount but enough to decorate the trees and cover the ground. It was beautiful with the sun shining - picture perfect.

La Jornada

This is part of a statue at The Albuquerque Museum. It is called La Jornada and this is just the front part of the piece. It also has quite a few other pieces and is an impressive sculpture.

Sky Totem

I stopped at Garden of the Gods pullout off of Hwy14. Usually I take pictures of the rock formations but today I took a walk a little north of the pullout to a gate and off to the right was this statue. After some research I found out this stature was by Warren Cullar and is called Sky Totem.

A Golden Tree

Well Fall is here, you can see it in the trees. There are golden trees all over Santa Fe and it is terrific. I love the change of the season and I love when that chill hits the air. My favorite time of the year.

Lamb's Ear

While on a walk today I came across this lamb's ear plant. I just love how soft the leaves are and I love the way the light plays off of the texture.

The Embrace

This statue is at the Waxlander Gallery on Canyon Road. It is called 'Variation of One' by Shray. I liked the way it was behind the plants and lit by the sun.

Coleus

This is a plant blooming in my neighbors garden. It looks like a coleus plant but I am not sure what kind and I have never seen a coleus bloom - so maybe it isn't a coleus at all.

Oregon State Capitol

We visited Salem, OR and made a stop by the Capitol. It was a nice building I enjoyed taking the tour. It is one of the newest state capitols in the country. Oregon had two building before this one but both of them burned and had to be rebuilt.

The Dunes that Inspired Dune

Today we went to the South Jetty Dunes and took a little walk. These dunes were the inspiration for Frank Herbert's Dune Series.

The Cobra Lily Plant

We saw this plant in Oregon while visiting the Darlingtonia State Natural Site in Florence. It is called Darlingtonia califonica. I thought it was a very interesting plant with even more interesting behaviors.

Beach View from the Trail

We were hiking today just a little bit north of Florence, OR. This is a view of part of the Central Oregon Coast that we got to enjoy.

Crashing Waves

Today we visited Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint near Depoe Bay, OR and just watched the ocean. It was incredible to see the waves crashing against the rocks.

Giant Green Anemone

I'm in Lincoln City, OR and today we walked along the beach at Roads End State Recreation Site. We were able to see some tide pools due to low tide. I photographed this giant green anemone as well as some other animals.

Caught in Mid-Air

While walking on the beach today in Lincoln City, OR we saw quite a few seagulls. I was lucky enough to capture this one as it took off .

Haystack Rock from Ecola Viewpoint

We spent part of the day at Ecola State Park and walked to the viewpoint. Here is a shot of Haystack Rock in the distance. Isn't it a beautiful day.

The Wreck of the Peter Iredale

Today we enjoyed Fort Stevens State Park and made our way down to the beach to see the Peter Iredale. It was incredible to see the ship sitting there and realize it has been there for over 100 years. That is Thomas looking at the ship.

Dead Man's Cove

This is a picture of Dead Man's Cove. I got this picture as we walked the trail to the Cape Disappointment Light house in Washington.

Trail at "Stub" Stewart

Today we took a hike at L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park in Buxton, OR. This picture was taken on the Hares Canyon Trail. We had a great time hiking in this park.

Yellow Wildflowers

These yellow wildflowers are blooming all over the property right now. I love the bright yellow spread out all over. As usual I am unable to identify this particular flower. It looks like it could be in the daisy or sunflower family.

Flower Graffiti

I took a walk downtown today and passed several walls with these stencil like graffiti images. Finally I stopped and took a picture of one. I don't mind graffiti art but these were on walls to people's houses and yards - not cool!

Rabbitbush

All over town you can see loads of yellow. The chamisa is in full bloom and although it is pretty it does give lots of people trouble with their allergies.

Smell and Taste

I was down on Canyon Road today and at the corner of Canyon Road and Paseo de Peralta is The Edge Gallery. They have these big sculptures of facial features. I think they are great.

Apple on a Stump

Today I went for a walk that started at Cerro Gordo Park. I took some trails that lead down to the Santa Fe River. While walking the trails I came across this apple sitting on a stump.
